Arbitration & Mediation Law

Arbitration is a dispute-resolution process in which the parties select a neutral third party to resolve their claims. Parties typically agree to arbitrate in order to avoid the time, expense, and complexity of litigation. While parties are not required to have an attorney to participate in arbitration, arbitration is a final, legally-binding process that may impact a party’s rights.

“Arbitration agreement” means an agreement by the parties to submit to arbitration all or certain disputes which have arisen or which may arise between them in respect of a defined legal relationship, whether contractual or not.

Mediation involves the intervention of a third person, or mediator, into a dispute to assist the parties in negotiating jointly acceptable resolution of issues in conflict.
